Tom Stafford’s first performance was with his mother at the Blankenship Church of Christ In Christian Union in Camp Dix, Kentucky. He was 5 years old and he sang a song called Jesus The Waymaker. Soon, Thomas was singing in a trio with his mother, Doris, and sister, Pam. They would be known as the Stafford Family and they traveled all over the Eastern Kentucky area sharing their music with anyone who would listen. Theirs was a unique sound because while Doris led out on most of the songs, Tom and Pam could hear harmony and would round out the sound with a standard three-part harmony – not bad for ages 6 and 10. The trio remained active until Pam left for college, but reunions were frequent. They last sang as a trio at their family reunion in 2005 just 3 months before Doris’ death.

Tom went to college at Morehead State University and attained his Bachelor degree in Vocal Music with an emphasis on performance. He later entered the University of Louisville where he got his teacher certification and Masters degree in Education. He taught in Louisville for 12 years. After moving to San Francisco, he attained another Masters degree in Educational Administration.

All the while, however, Tom has not stopped performing professionally. He has produced 10 different albums – 8 of them can be found on iTunes and other on-line music services. His one-man show, Totally Tom debuted in Sept. 2005 and was a huge hit. Since that time, Thomas has performed for private parties, benefits for charity, and at several bay area clubs. Not only does he still perform his one-man shows, he has collaborated with many bay area musicians in musical reviews and other nightclub performances. Tom last performed his Totally Tom review to benefit Spindrift Theater’s Raise The Roof campaign. He was honored by Pacifica Community Television’s PCT26 Honors, for his volunteer work throughout the city. He also continues to sing in his church choir at Seventh Avenue Presbyterian Church in San Francisco.

Tom will begin his third year as the principal at Cabrillo Elementary School in Pacifica where he enjoys working with his dedicated staff, students and families. This year marks Thomas’ 13th year with the District.
