No Exit

Directed by Steve Bologna

March 20 to April 5, 2020

The 5th production of the 2019-2020 Season

Written by: Jean-Paul Sartre
Adapted from the French by: Paul Bowles

Two women and one man are locked up together for eternity in one room in Hell. The windows are bricked up, there are no mirrors, the electric lights can never be turned off, and there is no exit.

In No Exit, Sartre’s classic existentialist dramatic comedy, three damned souls, Garcin, Inez, and Estelle, are brought to the same room in Hell by a mysterious Valet. They had all expected medieval torture devices to punish them for eternity, but instead find a plain room furnished in Second Empire style. None of them will admit the reason for their damnation, but all is revealed over the course of the play as the trio slowly realizes that “Hell is other people.”
